Alice Hastings Bradley Sheldon – best-known to the SF world as James Tiptree, Jr – was an extraordinary exponent of the short form. She was shortlisted for the Hugo Award nine times across the various short fiction categories (short story, novelette, novella), winning twice for ‘The Girl Who Was Plugged In’ and ‘Houston, Houston, Do You Read?’, and for the Nebula Award nine times across the same categories, winning three times for ‘Love is the Plan the Plan is Death’, ‘Houston, Houston, Do You Read?’ and ‘The Screwfly Solution’ – which appears in current New Title Spotlight Out of the Everywhere and Other Extraordinary Visions.
